Tailgate privacy policy
Tailgate is a college football app published by WraithBit ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have. If you have any question about it, email marketing@wraithbit.com.
The short version
- Tailgate has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- The teams you follow and your settings are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
Information stored on your device
Your followed teams, the order you put them in, your reminder and display settings are saved on your iPhone so the app can show your teams first. This information stays on the device and is removed when you delete the app. The Tailgate widget reads the same information from your device.
Sports data the app downloads
To show scores, schedules, news, rankings, statistics, betting lines and weather, the app requests public data from ESPN, College Football Data, The Odds API, Open-Meteo, the conferences' official availability reports and Wikimedia Commons (for team and stadium photographs). Some of these requests pass through a cache we run on Cloudflare so that everyone shares one copy. These requests do not include your followed teams, your identity or any identifier for you. Like any web request, they reveal your device's IP address to the service answering it, which that service may log under its own policy.
Advertising
Tailgate is free because it shows ads. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect information from your device to show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud. This can include your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking), your IP address, general location derived from it, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.
- UK, EEA and Switzerland. Before any ads are requested, the app shows Google's consent message. You can consent, decline, or choose individual purposes and partners. If you decline, you may still see ads that are not personalised.
- Tracking. On iOS the app asks your permission before it can use your device's advertising identifier. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", the app does not use it, and ads are less tailored.
- Changing your mind. Where consent applies, the app's Account screen has a "Privacy choices" option that reopens the consent message. You can change tracking permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy & Security, Tracking.
Google's use of this information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Notifications and Live Activities
If you turn on kickoff reminders, the app schedules them on your device for your followed teams' games. If you start a Live Activity for a game, your iPhone shows the score on the Lock Screen. Neither sends your followed teams to us.
Links to other sites
News stories, official reports and similar links open websites run by others, such as ESPN and the conferences. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Children
Tailgate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Because we do not hold personal information about you on our servers, most requests can be met on your device: deleting the app removes everything it stored. For information Google collects through ads, use the choices above or contact Google. Depending on where you live, including the UK, EEA and US states such as California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your personal information. Email marketing@wraithbit.com and we will help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If the way the app uses information changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
